Consultant Bio

An MBA graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Micah was a member of the Admissions Advisory Committee, interacting directly with applicants and visitors to the School. Following graduation, he advised a range of applicants on business school admissions before joining The MBA Exchange. After business school, he joined management consulting firm McKinsey & Company, serving companies in retail, consumer goods, technology and the public sector in North America and Asia. After leaving McKinsey, Micah spent stints in strategy and brand management at Starbucks before moving into the tech startup world where he has served in executive roles at several venture-backed startup companies. Prior to business school, he was a systems engineer in the defense sector after earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Duke University.

Company Information

When everyone claims to be “the leading MBA admissions company,” do words matter anymore? Who are you supposed to believe?

To be frank, we don’t pay a ton of attention to the field. Our objective can be summed up in one word: “Win.”

We don’t mess around. Our temperament comes from––in all candor––age and experience and enormous success. We keep a lower profile than others, but that’s part of our story. Our word of mouth from former clients is so powerful, we have the luxury to remain focused on the work, rather than on promoting ourselves. (As future business people, just think about how cool that is.) We’re able to dedicate all our time to helping our clients win by getting into elite business schools, and setting them up for success well beyond. If that kind of professional formula sounds like a good match for what you’re all about, come meet us. Let’s find out if we’ll click.

A lot of firms sport elite former Adcoms. And elite MBAs. And eye-popping stats and success and reviews. So…

Yes. If we were in your shoes, our eyes would glaze over, too. But you’ll do your due diligence––and we encourage it. Picking the right coach is important. In the end, you’ll have a strong sense of who’s for real and who’s all flair but no substance. Who offers a sincere, intelligent assessment versus who will prey on your anxiety. Our advice: put together a shortlist of firms, and go meet as many as you need. Get a feel. If you’re truly top MBA material, we’re confident you’ll recognize the unmistakable signature of experience, excellence and sincerity. In your bones.

Cool, but what’s The MBA Exchange’s… thing? What, if anything, makes your firm different?

  • A self-assuredness and focus that comes from experience and a roster of true professionals.
  • No bullsh*t. [Caring? Yes. Determined? Yes. Coddling? Not so much.]
  • Genuinely good, smart, decent, solid people.*

[*As you get older and wiser, you start to realize how important this is, and more interestingly… how rare. Our M.O. at The MBA Exchange since our inception has been to only invite not just the smartest and most accomplished professionals onto our team, but also only those people who are genuinely “good eggs.” People we genuinely like. People we find to be mature and dependable and committed to others’ success. It may seem like a strange differentiator to call out, but honestly, that’s the one that may matter most at the end of the day.]

P&Q Consultant Reviews

  • Micah helped provide focus to allow me to execute on my applications
    8 years ago
I started working with Micah years before I applied to business schools, and once my goals and background were understood, he helped me decide on extracurricular activities and possible projects at work that would not only be best for my career, but would also be most impactful to my candidacy. When it came down to the time to apply to schools he helped keep me on task with prompt and direct feedback on my applications, and allowed me to put my best foot forward and ultimately be successful with my applications.

  • Micah provided very honest feedback and was instrumental in every step of my MBA journey
    8 years ago
I worked with Micah for over three years in preparation for my MBA. At every step of the process, his interest, professionalism, and dedication towards my candidacy was prevalent. He genuinely cares and is not afraid to tell his clients when/where additional effort is required. I found his feedback to also be spot on and these insights made a material difference to my candidacy. I can honestly say that without his assistance, I would not have been able to gain admission into three top schools. Micah is very experienced and skilled at what he does and I would undoubtedly work with him again!

  • Micah made me work really hard, which I really appreciated
    8 years ago
Micah was great at giving me feedback and making me dig really deep into my background to make my stories as compelling as possible. We spent a lot of time up front to understand the "big picture" of my background, and then we dug into details. My goal was to get into the GSB, and I'm going there in the fall. Micah's feedback was essential in helping me communicate my background and what I'd add to an MBA program in the most effective way possible.
